GUMMY SMILE
Reveal the true beauty of your teeth. Our Gummy Smile correction treatments reshape uneven or excessive gum tissue to create a perfectly balanced, symmetrical, and confident smile where your teeth—not your gums—take center stage.
ABOUT GUMMY SMILE TREATMENT
A “Gummy Smile” (excessive gingival display) occurs when more than 3-4mm of gum tissue is exposed when you smile, often making the teeth appear smaller or “boxy” than they actually are. This can be caused by gum overgrowth, a hyperactive upper lip, or bone structure. At our clinic, we use advanced Laser Gingivectomy (Gum Contouring) and Crown Lengthening techniques to gently remove excess tissue and sculpt the gum line. This simple yet transformative procedure exposes the full, natural length of your teeth, instantly harmonizing your facial aesthetics.
HOW IT WORKS
Diagnosis & Design
We determine the cause of your gummy smile. Using Digital Smile Design, we draw the ideal gum line on your photo to show you exactly how much tissue needs to be removed for the perfect ratio.
Local Anesthesia
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia to ensure you are completely comfortable. You will not feel any pain during the reshaping process.
Laser Contouring
Using a specialized dental diode laser, we precisely remove the excess gum tissue and seal the blood vessels simultaneously. This advanced technology minimizes bleeding and drastically reduces recovery time compared to traditional surgery.
Immediate Results
The change is visible immediately. Once the minor swelling subsides (usually within a few days), your permanent, balanced smile is revealed.
QUICK ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE
Will my gums grow back?
In most cases, no. When performed correctly (often involving a slight bone recontouring called Crown Lengthening), the results are permanent. The gums will not grow back to their previous level.
Is the procedure painful?
Not at all during the procedure, thanks to local anesthesia. After the numbness wears off, you might feel a sensation similar to a “pizza burn” or mild soreness for 1-2 days, which does not interfere with daily life.
Can I eat normally after the surgery?
We recommend a soft diet for the first 24 hours and avoiding spicy or very hot foods to prevent irritation. After a few days, you can return to your normal diet.
Does it leave scars?
No. Since we use laser technology or microsurgical blades, the gums heal very cleanly without visible scarring. The tissue adapts quickly to the new tooth shape.
